England beat Jamaica in the bronze medal play-off match to claim third place at the Netball World Cup in Sydney, Australia. The Roses picked themselves up after the disappointment of a semi-final loss to New Zealand to achieve their fifth bronze medal, after also finishing third at the last World Cup in 2011.
Going into the match, England and Jamaica have history with the Roses winning to finish third in 2011 but the Sunshine Girls beating them to claim bronze at the Commonwealth Games in 2014. And both teams started well, going goal-to-goal in the early stages. But it was Jamaica that made the breakthrough, their athletic defence picking off some wayward English passes to feed Goal Shooter Romelda Aiken as they lead by five goals after the first quarter.
