On a fruitful night for ParalympicsGB, Simmonds starred in the pool to take gold after a heroic comeback.
British swimmer Ellie Simmonds broke her own world record to win her fifth Paralympic gold medal and first in Rio in the S6 200 metres individual medley. Simmonds, who has achondroplasia also known as dwarfism, set a new world record in her heats but broke it in the final, becoming the first SM6 swimmer finish a 200m medley in under three minutes.
